Project Highlight: Manitoba Metis Federation
The Manitoba Metis Federation is the official elected government of the Red River Metis, established in 1967 to provide democratic, responsible, and accountable governance on behalf of Red River Métis. The MMF delivers programs and services to its members in many different sectors across Manitoba. To keep their citizens informed and engaged across the province, the Metis Federation required an effective hybrid meeting system for their Winnipeg headquarters.
Multiple Audio Options
We installed a variety of microphone options for Manitoba Metis Federation, giving them both flexibility and redundancy for their audio system. The room has been outfitted with a ceiling mounted Sennheiser TeamConnect 2 Beamforming Microphone. The beamforming technology in this mic eliminates background noises from around the room, focusing the sound pickup directly on the speaker.
The chambers have also been outfitted with the Bosch Dicentis Conference System. The base units, placed around the table, feature a unique speaker queue system which allows the meeting chair to mute and unmute each participant wirelessly, reducing crosstalk and keeping meetings organized. The system also features a discussion queue system, allowing the meeting organizer to easily keep track of speaking order.
A Dynamic Display
The room is centered around a stunning 110” MAXHUB LED wall. This allows everyone in the room to easily view virtual meeting participants or shared documents. The LED wall also comes equipped with a wireless screen sharing box, which allows meeting participants to cast their screen to the LED wall without having to hunt for cables and adapters.
The room also features two LOFT displays: one D2 Series Interactive Display, and one DS Series Commercial Display. The interactive display is perfect for whiteboarding and brainstorming sessions, while the commercial display functions as a confidence monitor to allow presenters to see what’s on the LED wall without having to turn their back to the audience.
Easy Control
One of the concerns when designing this room was creating an easy-to-use control system, due to the high volume of users of this space. To accomplish this, we installed a 10-inch Crestron control panel located on the tabletop. This easy-to-use tablet allows users to set up the room for a meeting in one touch. The room also features an iPad linked with the video conferencing system, allowing users to mute participants with noisy microphones in virtual meetings.
With the use of interactive displays, a video wall, and both room microphones and gooseneck microphones, the Manitoba Metis Federation’s conference room can facilitate all of their remote communication and collaboration needs both now and well into the future.
